Date night on the homestead

by Charlotte Walker

A warm breeze blows as the orange glow of evening sky sets in. After a stifling hot day the cool air is well received.   Those potatoes are not going to hill themselves. We take tools and march out into the field.  There’s some cheerful chatter, teasing about who is faster, stronger. We work quietly and intently. Our arms, bodies and tools move in rhythm. Side by side, shoulder to shoulder, we work together.
